About Papi’s Woodshop

Handcrafted by Artisan Woodworker Gene Berry

We’re Gene and Alysia Berry, the husband-and-wife team behind Papi’s Woodshop in Oregon City, Oregon. Gene does the woodworking, and Alysia helps with the customer details and business side. Together, we help you create a piece that fits your idea, whether it’s a personalized gift, a photo keepsake, or a custom woodworking project.

How Gene became Papi

The name began with Gene’s first grandchild. When she was very young, Gene stepped out of the family car to get donuts. She asked, “Oh no! Where did Papi go?” He had never been called Papi before, but the name stuck. Today, Gene is Papi to ten grandchildren.

A life of service. A love of making.

Gene proudly served 13 years in the U.S. Army. His service is part of his story, along with family, community, and the work he does in the woodshop.

Rooted in Oregon

Our Mount Hood logo brings together the mountain, forest, and river—a reflection of our Pacific Northwest home and the natural character of wood.
